Oily skin and semi-permanent makeup.
First, let us repeat that semi-permanent makeup (from the English “permanent”, meaning long-lasting) is a procedure for introducing pigment into the skin (into the upper layer of the skin).
Today I will explain whether you can have semi-permanent makeup on oily skin, and also which technique you should choose.
First of all, how can you tell that you have oily skin?
This type of skin is characterized by an oily shine and enlarged pores, irritation and inflammation, and blackheads may appear.
Excess oil prevents the pigment from taking and can make it blur if the eyebrow tattoo technique has not been chosen correctly. Always listen to your artist, who will recommend a suitable technique depending on your skin, so that you get the result you want. On oily skin, touch-ups are needed more often. The rate of color loss is higher than with dry and normal skin. To keep the result fresh, you will need a touch-up about every eight months. Without a refresh, permanent makeup on oily skin will last up to 1 year. For clients over 40, the semi-permanent makeup will last longer and the time between touch-ups will increase.
Which technique should you choose?
Oily skin rejects the semi-permanent pigment, so the hair-stroke technique is not suitable. The reason is the excessive oiliness of the skin surface, which makes the edges of the strokes spread. The fine lines we draw with the hair-stroke technique may look as if they are floating.
Regardless of the artist’s experience, because of the characteristics of the body, it is not possible to achieve the expected result. It is better not to choose an imitation of natural hairs. Therefore the 3D and 6D techniques are not suitable either. In these techniques the pigment is introduced at a minimal depth in the skin, which is ineffective on oily skin. The pigment stays in the skin with difficulty, and the lines are blurry.
An alternative is the shading technique (nano spray). The shading is created through a play of colors and shades, with no clear edges. The artist gives the eyebrows a natural look, using different shades depending on the skin’s color type. With the help of pigments, a background is created for the eyebrow hairs. As a result, you get beautiful eyebrows, as if they were done with pencil or eyeshadow.
The nano spray shading technique is also less painful than the hair-stroke technique, and is suitable for oily skin.
With the right care, your semi-permanent makeup will look natural and last longer.
Do not use a facial scrub on your eyebrows, as the result (the color) will fade more quickly.
In strong sun, you should use sunscreen.
Choose face care creams carefully, and avoid formulas with a whitening effect.
