The history of semi-permanent makeup

Today we will share some very interesting facts about the history and origins of tattooing and semi-permanent makeup.

Permanent makeup dates back to the time of Ancient Egypt, and there are many rumours and myths surrounding it.

It is still not clear to most people what the difference is between semi-permanent makeup and a tattoo or permanent makeup.

Let us take a look at the history of the emergence and development of such an interesting trend as permanent makeup.

The word “permanent” comes from the Latin, translated as “lasting, penetrating”.

It is often also understood to mean a tattoo.

At first glance it looks like a tattooing procedure, which is quite true.

After all, to us it is simply an offshoot of the ordinary tattoo.

But the modern industry is developing and does not stand still.

The procedure began to become very popular in the early 1900s in Great Britain, and in the 1920s it became popular in the United States.

The oculoplastic surgeon Crowell Baird from the United States performed the first such “operation” (procedure) at that time. His patient had lost her eyelashes, and the semi-permanent makeup technique helped fill in the gaps and recreate the lost volume.

Since when have people wanted long-lasting makeup?

Since the time of Ancient Egypt. One of the most beautiful and powerful women of that era started the fashion for this kind of makeup.

Her method of applying makeup was to use natural dye and a bamboo stick with a fine needle. But unfortunately, the ancient world was not as fast as people’s desires,

and this precious procedure has become possible and accessible only now, in the 21st century.

There are only 2 main ways of applying permanent makeup:

The first way is with a special machine which, using a fine needle, inserts the pigment into the upper layer of the skin. In this way we can perform all the well-known techniques such as powder, shading and line techniques.

This method allows us to achieve excellent results quickly and efficiently.

There is also a manual method of application. The manual device looks like a pen and has a blade-shaped needle at the tip, with which the pigment is applied by hand under the skin. Working this way, the artist must be very experienced so as not to injure the skin.

There are many areas where semi-permanent makeup is done: eyebrows, eyelids, lips.

With the help of permanent makeup, we can correct and restore the shape and density of the eyebrows. We can also enjoy permanent eyeliner and use a fine permanent line to fill in gaps between the lashes and make them look visually fuller.

Also, where eyebrow hair is missing and where lashes are missing, with the help of permanent makeup we can create new eyebrows and define the lash line even if there are no lashes.

We can also correct the shape and outline of the lips and their colour.

But besides this, semi-permanent makeup can solve many other problems.

For example, medical tattooing includes visually thickening the scalp, camouflaging post-surgical scars and restoring the colour of the nipple and areola after a mastectomy, or simply improving the aesthetic appearance.

In conclusion, we can say that semi-permanent makeup techniques, as well as their quality, are constantly developing and being updated. And we can certainly say that this service will be in great demand for many decades.
